3 Step Aligners

After the diagnosis and design of your new smile, a set of aligners will be designed especially to achieve the desired smile along with a clinical check once a month to ensure that the process is working.

This sequence is totally invisible, which makes the process and the results aesthetically better. Custom retainers will also be designed at the end of the treatment to keep your teeth aligned.

Dentistry, like all new advances in technology, moves towards digitalization.

With the incorporation of the intraoral scanner for image capture, at Crooke & Laguna we are expanding its field of action to orthodontics. With this, we have achieved a more comfortable, reliable and effective way to take the records of a patient’s mouth to perform the study prior to an orthodontic treatment to align their teeth. This methodology, in addition to being more comfortable for the patient, allows us to study the case on the computer, and obtain a preview of the final results, to confirm that we will meet the patient’s expectations.

By having STL files, there is no deterioration of the image and it is always available. We have this system connected to the invisible orthodontic systems and the digital smile design systems.

FAQ about invisalign

It is a transparent, comfortable and removable orthodontic treatment. After conducting a study of models, photographs and radiographs, a virtual treatment planning is performed, which can be shown to the patient to have a preview of the final result. Depending on the movements to be made, a series of splints or aligners manufactured to measure the teeth of each patient are manufactured, and they are replaced every 2 weeks. Depending on the case, a greater or lesser number of aligners will be required, varying the cost of treatment depending on this.

These aligners are usually very comfortable and do not interfere with daily life, they need a minimum of 20-22 hours a day of use, they should only be removed to eat. The advantage is that aesthetically they are almost invisible, and that being remissible, tooth brushing is easier than with conventional braces.

Once the first visit is done and the diagnostic records are made, it is necessary to take an impression or measurement of the patient’s mouth with a special material or scan the teeth which will help us to generate a virtual three-dimensional model with a treatment plan that will be approved by the Orthodontist and at the same time shown to the patient for his approval.

When this treatment plan is accepted, the manufacture of the aligners begins. It will be numbered from beginning to end, and will be installed by the Orthodontist and changed every two weeks. That means that every 15 days we will have new aligners, which will be completely transparent and force the necessary tooth movements, gradually, for the correction of the smile, seeing day by day the changes, straightening the teeth until the final correction.

Yes, in general virtually all malocclusions can be treated with invisalign, there are 2 basic limitations: the lack of anchoring (that means that there are few remaining teeth and additional anchoring with implants or micro screws), and the lack of collaboration on the part of the patient, since being a removable system the patient must be responsible and take the maximum number of hours a day.

The length depends on each patient and the type of bad occlusion. Some treatments can last only 6 months and some a little more complex over 1 year.

There is NO age limit to perform this type of treatment, although as an Orthodontist we advise this treatment in adults because of the care that must be taken with aligners and hours of use.

Invisalign aligners are transparent. No one will notice that you wear these virtually invisible aligners, which makes Invisalign seamlessly adapted to your lifestyle and your daily relationship with others.

The Invisalign aligners, as discussed above, are removable. In contradistinction to fixed metal appliances, you’ll enjoy the flexibility of eating and drinking what you want during the treatment just removing the aligners. You can also remove the aligners to brush your teeth and floss as you normally would to avoid halitosis and maintain proper oral hygiene.

Unlike traditional fixtures, there are no metal brackets or wires. This means that, in most cases, you have to spend less time in the clinic of your Invisalign Provider to make necessary adjustments during treatment.

Finally, Invisalign allows you to see your results and virtual treatment plan even before you start treatment, so you can see what your teeth are expected to look like when treatment ends.

The citation period is generally the same as in the case of traditional fixed devices, although appointments are shorter.
The fact of spending less time in the chair of the dentist or orthodontist is explained because it is not necessary to make adjustments to the wires and / or brackets. It is normal for patients to go to their dentist every 4 to 6 weeks to make sure that the treatment progresses as planned, as well as to receive the following sets of Invisalign aligners, although it will be your specialist who decides this, based on your treatment.

Some people may feel a little temporary discomfort during the first few days at the beginning of each new stage of treatment, by putting on a new aligner. This is normal and is usually described as a feeling of pressure. It is the sign that the aligners are working well, moving your teeth gradually and helping you achieve the desired final result. These discomforts usually disappear in a couple of days.

The use of retainers after orthodontic treatments is an important phase as they maintain the stability of the teeth in the new position. If you want your teeth to stay in the ideal position, it is best to wear a retainer as ordered by your orthodontist. In many cases, the last aligner will be your temporary retainer until your dental final position is determined.

The best way to clean the aligners is by brushing and washing them in warm water or by using Invisalign cleaning crystals or special tablets for cleaning. To maintain proper hygiene it is important that you brush your teeth after each meal and before putting the aligners back on.
