PERIODONTICS is a dentist speciality of gums disease study (gingivitis and periodontitis).

Etiological Factors

Periodontal Treatment

Consiste en realizar varias sesiones de raspado y alisado radicular para descontaminar la raíz del diente. Una vez finalizados los raspados se hace una análisis microbiológico para determinar si existe alguna bacteria más agresiva que haya causado la inflamación y pérdida de hueso. Esto nos servirá para saber si hay que emplear antibióticos o no, y qué antibiótico específico es necesario.

Finalizada esta 1ª fase, habrá que llevar a cabo una evaluación periodontal de nuevo y así poder valorar la respuesta al tratamiento y la necesidad o no de realizar cirugía.

También podemos llevar a cabo un análisis genético para valorar a la predisposición a padecer la enfermedad. Esto nos servirá para prever posibles complicaciones, y tomar determinadas decisiones de cara al futuro.

Gingiva grafts
