We work every day to bring the smile back to our patients. But there are people to whom we would like to send a special smile. For this reason, in 2021 we have donated € 5 for each review to the Cudeca foundation, and we will continue with this solidarity initiative in 2022.
At Crooke & Laguna Dental Clinic we collaborate with Cudeca, it is a non-profit foundation whose mission is to offer palliative care and specialized assistance to cancer patients in the non-curative phase and support to their families in the province of Malaga, where two of our dental clinics are.
The objective of Cudeca is to provide the patient with the best possible quality of life and the family with special support through Home Care Programs. Among the actions they carry out are: Outpatient Consultations and Counseling, Psychosocial, Day and Rehabilitation Unit and Income Unit. This care includes both the treatment for the control of symptoms and pain, as well as emotional support and social support, with continued support to the family during the illness and after the loss of their loved one.
The professionalism and extensive experience of the healthcare team, together with the added value of volunteering, is the basic pillar of its activity. Every year Cudeca serves more than 1600 patients and their families. All the services are free.
In 1991, one of the many foreigners residents living in the Costa del Sol (Malaga. Spain), Mrs Joan Hunt, along with other British compatriots, contemplated the possibility of helping people who, seeking the mildness of our climate, decide to end their days surrounded by everything they have longed for and that due to a terminal illness, they have not been able to have or carry out.
From then until now, with dedication, effort, enthusiasm and tenacity, more than 17,000 people (both Spanish and foreign) have been assisted since 1992. All this, with their own resources and without requesting any compensation for these services. This is the CUDECA foundation.
Its fundamental objective, in the words of its recently deceased founder is:

Cudeca fulfills with excellence a direct assistance work and another of continuous training. Among all of us we can spread it and get funding for this much-needed cause.
