In order to make a correct and individualized diagnosis of orthodontics of each patient we need a previous study. We analyze the facial proportions, the smile, took models of study, radiographs and photographs both intraoral, face and profile of the patient. With all this information we can offer a diagnosis and an appropriate treatment plan for each patient.
Metal Brackets: They are the most common type of bracket. They are resistant, safe and reliable. We have “mini” brackets that are smaller in size than traditional metal brackets.
CARE OF THE PATIENT IN ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT
Orthodontists are aware of the sacrifice for the patient to wear orthodontics, but we also know that the effort will have been worth it when the patient sees his new smile. For this reason it is essential that the patient collaborates and has excellent hygiene. There are toothpastes, brushes, mouthwashes and specific floss for orthodontics.
It is also essential to incorporate certain good habits during treatment, such as ceasing onicofagia (biting nails) if there was, nibbling pens, eating chewing gum, dried fruits and hard things in general.
Otherwise, the brackets would fall down, lots of complications and the treatment will be prolonged over time. It is important to increase the frequency of visits for cleaning and maintenance of gums, since having brackets it is more difficult to brush and the patient is more prone to developing a gingivitis. Therefore, our recommendation is to have a professional oral cleaning at least every 5-6 months.
Sapphire brackets are the latest generation in aesthetic brackets. They are made of monocrystalline ceramic, they provide an optimal aesthetic and are very resistant to the fracture.
